Jadi ceritanya tuh kemaren abis ada acara keluarga aku pergi ke ruko di deket mcd ..nah terus kan pesen ronde doang tuh soalnya kenyangg banget..soalnya kan pas aku di acara keluarga tuh makanannnya ennaak enaak jadi dilahap banget tuh makakanannya...nah pas minum ronde tuh! beh! enaknyaaaa bener sumpah deh! jadi kepengen lagi ehh! anget anget gitu..terus tiba tiba ada orrang ngerokok! beh! yang namanya rokok tuh ya paling bencii deh baunya nyenget gitu soalnya..malah orang yang ngerokok itu dududuknya deket aku lagi! ohookk! itu sumpah nyesek abis nyesek sampe ke tenggorokan terus ke paru paru baunya langu langu gimanaa gitu kaya bauuu aneh deh! pokoknya iihhh gaenak sumpah...! akhirnya aku suruh aja ibuku bayar cepet cepet baauuuu nyaa minta ammpun deh! tuh orang juga ga kira kira ampe ngepul ngepul gitu kaya cerobong asepp ngerokonya haha lebay..aahh pokoknya benci banget deh sama rokok..nyesek..

On your way to Hawi, the traditional biking route of the Big Island Ironman Triathlon, enjoy the magnificent coastal views and learn to appreciate what tough challenges the triathletes face on their way.

Arriving in Hawi and Kapaau takes you back to the days of old Hawaii. Hawi is a sleepy little town is filled with art galleries, shops and a few restaurants whereas Kapaau is celebrated for being the birthplace of King Kamehameha I. After strolling through those two towns, it's time to head further on the road to your final destination: Pololu Valley.

Be aware that the road to Pololu Valley Lookout is very narrow and most of the time the parking spaces close to the lookout are taken. When you see a good spot to park your car ahead, be smart and do so. On your walk to the viewing area, you will enjoy some special views as well. Of course, you will hear the biggest aahs and oohs when standing on the viewing platform overlooking breathtaking Pololu Valley. It's one of those moments and views on your Hawaii vacation on the Big Island you won't ever forget!

Hiking down into the Pololu Valley is steep but it goes in serpentines, it's moderate and feasible for most everybody. After about 30minutes continuous downhill - remember you have got to make it back up - the reward will be the sounds and views of thunderous waves crashing on a black sand beach. Please, take the sign no swimming serious.

In addition to this very special Pololu Valley hiking adventure, there is another hike starting at one of the gates near the Pololu Vally lookout. This hike leads an a trail to a secret waterfall and is considered one of the best Big Island hikes. Please, don't climb over the gate. You need a special hiking permit for this trail. Welcome!!! Our Dream, Our Plan

25-May-2010 As many of you probably know Rachel and I have been dreaming of taking an extended international trip for years. I can remember sitting in far-flung places in Patagonia back in 2007 scribbling possible itineraries on cocktail napkins. Not too long ago we found one of those old cocktail napkins, and, low and behold, some of those scribbled places appear on our current itinerary!

Starting early the morning of July 4th (Independence Day...) we will board a big ol' jet airliner, with one-way tickets bound for Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. As the plan goes, we will return back home after more than 10 months and visits to more than 12 countries. Our departure will mark the culmination of years of planning, saving and dreaming.

With the big day about 40-days away we still have much to do. Packing, moving, selling our car, whittling down our possessions, purchasing gear, travel vaccinations, and sending away for visas are all on our ever-growing list of things-to-do. The whole process is exciting, tiring, scary, and liberating.

Over the next few weeks we will be posting information about our itinerary, our planning process, and how you all can stay in touch with us while we are on the road.

We will be keeping this blog updated whenever we are able to connect to the internet and will be carrying our trusty netbook (affectionately named "minitop" by Rachel). We will detail subscription options in a later post.

Early on in the planning process we began thinking about this trip as a really long weekend. We invite you to share our journey with us; the ups and the downs, the beautiful and the sublime, as we explore the spectacular natural landscapes and rich cultures of SE Asia, Nepal, India, New Zealand, and beyond.
